A new chapter for SAOL Knitwear

A new chapter for SAOL Knitwear

3rd Oct 2023

Since the establishment of SAOL Knitwear, our mission has been to deliver high quality, authentic Aran Knitwear to our customers. The latest development for our brand is the opening of our second location in Ballina, county Mayo. Bringing production to the Ballina townland has been a huge success, as it allows James, the company owner to inspect the knitting in process and ensure the highest quality finish. We are proud to share our latest achievement with you, our customers, and tell you more about Mayo, why this location is so significant to our brand.

Ballina is a town located in the north east of Mayo and is known to be an industrialist town with a large population. The local people here have an excellent labour skill set that aligns with the needs of our company. Opening SAOL here in Mayo meant that we were hiring these highly skilled workers who are also very well acquainted with the history of Aran knitwear and the significance it has to the Irish people. As well as this, the town is surrounded by many natural beauties such as the Ox mountains, Nephin Mountain, Loch Conn lake and the famous river Moy. Our designers take great inspiration from these surroundings when creating new garments.

Another reason we chose Mayo for our new location is because the west of Ireland is also home to our CEO, James. Growing up near Ballina, in Foxford, James was introduced to knitting from a very young age, having family members working in the industry. This inspires him and all of us here at SAOL to add our love for Irish culture and community into every single piece we make. For us here at SAOL, it is very important that everything you buy is of the highest quality, comfortable and authentic: from where it is made, the yarns and technique used, to our workers who continuously try to improve our garments. This is our way of adding the true Irish way of life (SAOL) into each garment so that you and your families can feel its authenticity for many years to come.
